These impressive figures underline the rapid development and success of the last-mile specialist. Looking back: At the beginning of 2023, the first “German” myflexbox was set up in the town of Germering near Munich at the site partner BK Benzin-Kontor AG. Since then, it has been available there and at two other BK locations in Friedberg and Mering: refueling, washing cars, using smart parcel lockers. More and more partners and locations were added: In Germany, there are now around 13,000 lockers in over 20 cities, 18 of which are in the top 80 cities (> 100,000 inhabitants). But it’s not just about numbers – myflexbox has opened up entire cities and established a comprehensive smart city infrastructure in metropolitan areas such as Berlin, Hamburg and Braunschweig. The company’s presence in North Rhine-Westphalia is particularly noteworthy, where it already has smart parcel lockers in eight cities, including the five largest in the state.

myflexbox creates a real win-win scenario: the everyday lives of customers, e-commerce and parcel service providers are simplified, as is out-of-home delivery. Convenient 24/7 storage/collection and returns options go hand in hand with CO₂ savings by reducing distances and time. All of this is made possible for location partners, such as housing associations or petrol station operators, without cost or effort.
The vision of myflexbox is to create sustainable urban spaces with the highest quality of life. Every single parcel locker reduces traffic and thus CO₂ emissions from day one. Each individual box increases the efficiency of the entire network. Location partners thus realize low-emission infrastructures that can be used by everyone and actively shape the future of our cities.
The annual saving of tons of CO₂ through a parcel locker network is an important smart city building block for achieving the climate neutrality targets. The focus is therefore on further densifying the network in order to further reduce the walking distance to the home. The more parcel lockers are within the slipper distance, the better. Because the shorter the distance to the myflexbox, the more often the car is left behind.
Cities or infrastructure providers can strengthen multimodal mobility hubs with smart parcel lockers at strategic locations at intersections, train stations and stops. The combination of e-charging infrastructure, public transport, e-bike sharing, cycle path networks at intersections, train stations, etc. creates incentives for sustainable passenger transport, promotes the wider use of sustainable means of transport and promotes emission-free mobility. With myflexbox, petrol stations become multi-service hubs and smart cities become even smarter. The location planning of parcel lockers can be used to control and stimulate pedestrian flows. This can strengthen local bricks-and-mortar retail and even prevent crime.
myflexbox offers advantages to many different customer groups. Anyone with a suitable location can become a partner. All logistics and retail partners, whether large or small, regional or national, are welcome. That is the philosophy: it only makes sense to establish an open standard. The integration of several courier, express and parcel service partners (CEP) saves valuable urban space in contrast to closed systems, where you need a separate parcel locker for each service. In other words, the inclusive concept avoids uncontrolled growth. This is sustainable from both the parcel services’ and the customers’ perspective. This is because parcel lockers are usually visited on foot, by bike or by public transport rather than by car, especially in conurbations. And those who do take the car often combine the parcel business with trips that would have been made anyway, e.g. commuting, shopping, refueling or shopping. This so-called “trip chaining” increases efficiency even further.
The shareholders of myflexbox are not parcel service providers, but financial investors from the infrastructure sector and Salzburg AG. The Green Tech Company stands for sustainable and climate-friendly supply of clean infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, e-mobility, photovoltaics and much more. Without pursuing its own interests as a parcel service provider or competing with them, the myflexbox platform has been designed for six years now to unite all parcel service providers in one system without favoring individual ones. This neutrality is reflected in the DNA of the entire company and is one of the reasons for the technical integration of such a large number of parcel service providers into an open network. This is unique in Europe.

myflexbox is a smart city company with the aim of minimizing CO₂ emissions on the last mile throughout Europe, caused by unsuccessful doorstep deliveries and traffic chaos caused by delivery services in cities. End customers can use myflexbox 24/7 to conveniently and contactlessly receive, send and return parcels and goods. Since it was founded in 2018, the last mile specialist has established itself as the largest carrier-neutral smart locker network in the German-speaking world. The parcel lockers are an efficient 24-hour alternative to traditional parcel stores and support the megatrend of out-of-home delivery.
