From 0 to 100 in Berlin – with the installation of the 100th smart parcel locker in Berlin, the largest open smart locker network in the German-speaking world has reached another milestone. Together with the new cooperation partner Deutsche Investment Kapitalverwaltung AG, myflexbox is expanding the network density and thus creating immediate added value for residents. The anniversary locker was recently put into operation at Utrechter Strasse 34.
Tenants of Deutsche Investment Kapitalverwaltung AG, residents of the surrounding area and anyone else who wants to use it now have more convenience and flexibility when receiving, sending and returning parcels. This is also in line with the sustainability aspirations of both companies, as the intelligent lockers are ideal smart city building blocks that can be used to save distances and CO₂.
Parcel volumes, which have been rising for years, pose challenges for urban areas, such as congested streets, increasing emissions and unnecessary journeys for residents. Customers’ needs have also changed: They want to decide for themselves when and where they receive deliveries and also want the greatest possible flexibility when it comes to delivery. In addition to increased convenience and more flexibility for users, intelligent parcel lockers help to reduce emissions. According to a study, they reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 75% compared to traditional doorstep deliveries and save up to 2.2 tons of CO₂ per station every year.
