Erlangen / Munich, May 28, 2026 – myflexbox has reached the next important milestone in the expansion of its carrier-neutral network: With the new parcel locker at its location partner Kaufland in Erlangen (Stadtmauerstraße 27), myflexbox is now represented in 800 cities and municipalities across Germany and Austria. The anniversary indoor locker is located in a place that perfectly reflects the myflexbox location strategy: right in people’s daily routines, at a highly frequented retail location.
With the new location in Erlangen, myflexbox continues to expand its presence in Bavaria and makes parcel services available wherever people are already on the move – while shopping, on their way home, or between work, family commitments, and everyday errands. Users can conveniently collect, send, or return parcels. Simple, secure, and without any additional registration with myflexbox.
Designed for indoor use, built to meet everyday needs
The new parcel locker at Kaufland demonstrates how open parcel logistics can be integrated even more closely into existing daily routines. While parcel lockers are often located outdoors, myflexbox has opted for an indoor solution in Erlangen. This means the station is protected from the weather, highly visible, and seamlessly integrated into the environment of an established local retail destination.
For retail locations in particular, this provides a valuable additional service. Customers can combine parcel collection or returns with their shopping trip instead of planning separate journeys. At the same time, the location partner benefits from a practical added value: the space is enhanced with a digital service point that increases foot traffic, convenience, and the overall attractiveness of the location.
800 cities and municipalities in the network
With Erlangen, myflexbox surpasses the milestone of 800 cities and municipalities across its entire network. The anniversary location is therefore a prime example of the consistent expansion of an open infrastructure for the last mile. The objective remains clear: to make parcel logistics simpler, more flexible, and more efficient – for recipients, parcel carriers, e-commerce businesses, location partners, and cities alike.
“800 cities and municipalities are a strong signal for us,” says Jonathan Grothaus, CEO & Founder of myflexbox. “Our network is not simply growing on a map; it is growing in people’s everyday lives. Erlangen at Kaufland is a great example of this: a high-traffic location, a clear benefit for customers, and an indoor solution that demonstrates how flexibly open parcel lockers can be deployed.”
The myflexbox parcel locker can be used for the services of the connected parcel carriers. These currently include DPD, UPS, GLS, and FedEx, among others. The service is easily accessed via a scanner and display using a QR code or collection code provided to users by the parcel carrier.
Added value for location partners and users
The new indoor parcel locker at Kaufland also demonstrates how retail locations can benefit from open parcel lockers. They create additional service quality, increase the relevance of locations, and can provide customers with another reason to visit regularly.
“Location partners such as Kaufland play a key role in the further development of the last mile,” Grothaus continues. “Because it is exactly where people shop, commute, work, or live that open parcel infrastructure delivers its greatest value. Our ambition is to provide this infrastructure in a neutral, efficient manner that can be used by as many providers as possible.”
How does a myflexbox work?
No app or registration with myflexbox is required. Users simply use the familiar services of the connected parcel carriers. Operation takes place directly at the parcel locker via scanner and display, either by scanning a QR code or by entering the respective pickup code. This code is provided by the parcel carrier via email or SMS.
