myflexbox cracks the 40-city mark: smart parcel lockers conquer Germany

myflexbox, the largest open smart locker network in the German-speaking world, is celebrating a significant milestone: the neutral and carrier-neutral last-mile infrastructure solution is now represented in 40 German cities. And the number is steadily increasing. This expansion marks a decisive step in myflexbox’s vision of integrating sustainable and innovative logistics solutions into urban environments across the board.

From 1 to 40

A lot has happened since myflexbox opened the first parcel lockers in Germany west of Munich in Germering in Upper Bavaria at the beginning of 2023 together with its location partner Benzin-Kontor AG. Today, around a year and a half later, the company has expanded its network in Germany to over 230 smart lockers. In the overall network (Germany and Austria), myflexbox now has over 760 stations. The 40 German cities, which are home to a total of over 15 million people, include the country’s five largest cities: Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt am Main. The 20 largest cities in the myflexbox network all have over 100,000 inhabitants, and parcels can be received, sent and returned around the clock with myflexbox in 11 of Germany’s top 15 cities. From medium-sized and large cities to Hanseatic cities and metropolitan areas: The expansion into nine federal states to date, including many state capitals or city states, underlines myflexbox’s commitment to making logistics processes in conurbations more efficient and environmentally friendly.

Several parcel service providers, such as GLS, UPS and FedEx, can optimize delivery journeys and achieve a much higher number of parcel deliveries per stop with the intelligent parcel lockers in the rapidly growing parcel market. This reduces journeys and thus saves emissions. Users, e.g. residents of residential areas or customers of retailers or petrol stations, benefit from the increased flexibility and convenient 24/7 services. “This is an important milestone for us as a pioneer and neutral, long-standing partner of the major parcel service providers. Our parcel lockers, which are cost-neutral for location partners, make the first and last mile of delivery more sustainable,” says Lukas Wieser, Co-CEO and Founder of myflexbox. “We are proud to have cracked the 40-city mark and look forward to further expanding our network.”

Jonathan Grothaus, Co-CEO and Founder of myflexbox, adds: “Our inclusive, neutral white-label approach has other positive effects in addition to bundled delivery traffic: Retailers and e-commerce companies can, for example, operate Click & Collect and optimize their out-of-home delivery. Cities and municipalities relieve the burden on the cityscape with ‘a parcel locker for everyone’ and use myflexbox as a smart city building block: locations at intersections, train stations, bus stops or the cycle path network promote wider use of sustainable means of transport and strengthen emission-free mobility.”
