Munich / Bochum, May 9, 2025 – “Deep in the West” there is now an alternative to missed parcels, pick-up slips in the letterbox and waiting for the parcel carrier. Because: Bochum has its first myflexbox. A smart parcel locker of the open myflexbox network has recently been installed at Bussmannsfeld 53.
Together with Gemeinnütziger Wohnungsverein zu Bochum eG (GWV), the parcel locker was installed in a residential area in the Hiltrop district – barrier-free, accessible 24/7 and open to all parcel services. This is a real service gain, especially for the local residents, and a visible sign that Smart City is also starting in residential areas.
Living well in Bochum
As a cooperative, GWV stands for secure and good living space without future worries, contemporary and future-oriented – a “perfect match” for smart last-mile logistics infrastructure. A modern service for tenants, neighborhoods and the city of tomorrow brings more city feeling and less parcel stress.
Jonathan Grothaus, CEO & Founder of myflexbox, says: “We are delighted to have GWV as a cooperation partner that not only builds apartments, but also actively works to improve the quality of life in residential areas. With the parcel station on the doorstep, we are bringing modern logistics to where it belongs – in the neighborhood, to the people.”
GWV is also setting an example with this cooperation: for digitalization, environmental awareness and smart infrastructure in the residential environment. “With this parcel station, we are expanding our wide range of mobility services in our neighborhoods. Our members should be able to use modern services with short distances practically ‘on their doorstep’ – uncomplicated, safe and sustainable,” say Christian Knibbe and Micha Heimbucher, both board members of GWV. “With myflexbox, they can receive, send and return parcels – with no opening hours at all.”

Bochum goes Smart Locker
The city of Bochum – known for its transformation from an industrial location to an innovative university and knowledge city – is the latest location in the constantly growing myflexbox network. With around 370,000 inhabitants in the heart of the Ruhr region and a growing smart city strategy, Bochum offers ideal conditions for intelligent infrastructure. myflexbox is delighted to be working with GWV to create sustainable, service-oriented added value for local residents.
And the highlight: a single parcel station like the one in Bochum saves an average of up to 2.2 tons of CO₂ per year compared to traditional doorstep delivery (see report by TOR, ZDG 2020). That’s not only smart, but also pretty green.
