GLS Germany and myflexbox reach milestone: 500 parcel lockers in operation

The anniversary location at Elly-Beinhorn-Straße 1a/b in 65760 Eschborn

Neuenstein / Munich, 2 April 2025 – The parcel service GLS Germany and the company myflexbox, which specializes in smart cities, have reached an important milestone in their collaboration: GLS’s out-of-home network in Germany now comprises 500 parcel stations from myflexbox alone, which are available to all GLS customers. The two partners announced this step towards a nationwide network for flexible and efficient parcel logistics today.

Cooperation has been steadily expanding since 2022

The 500th myflexbox is located at Elly-Beinhorn-Straße 1a/b in 65760 Eschborn at a retail property owned by location partner Retail Match GmbH, part of the ILG Group. With a total of over 1,100 locations in Germany and Austria, myflexbox offers the largest independent parcel station infrastructure in the DACH region. Parcel senders and recipients benefit from the cross-provider system of the stations and can direct their parcels to the myflexbox locations, regardless of which parcel service is behind them. The Austrian company myflexbox is currently opening an average of 30 to 50 new locations per month. GLS customers can already use the myflexbox parcel stations in over 140 German cities. The myflexbox network in Germany is set to grow to over 1,000 locations by the end of 2025.

A new level of technical integration

In addition to the quantitative growth, GLS, as one of Germany’s leading parcel services, emphasizes the technical development of the cooperation, which both partners have accelerated. Optimized integration of GLS services, an improved driver app and the option of use by independent service providers ensure a modern customer experience.

Jascha Waffender, Director Out of Home (OOH) at GLS, describes the progress made in the area of last mile infrastructure: “The collaboration between two innovative companies enables us to create smooth processes for our customers. Our aim is to make sending and receiving parcels as high-quality, convenient and close-knit as possible. To achieve this, we at GLS are creating a holistic Out of Home ecosystem with our partners.”

With the continuous expansion of the OOH network, GLS offers its customers more convenience and choice: Parcels can be picked up and sent from more and more collection points around the clock, regardless of delivery times or presence at home. The partnership with myflexbox is a central component of GLS’ core ambition to expand out-of-home solutions across Europe. In expanding its network of parcel stores and parcel stations, the CEP service is focusing on innovative concepts that extend delivery options. This is also evident in the strategic cooperation with market competitor DPD, where a jointly usable network of parcel stores and stations is currently being established. DPD is now also a partner of myflexbox. The joint GLS & DPD parcel station network is also available for use by other market participants and companions. “Collaboration with strong third-party partners such as myflexbox is an important building block for success in achieving our goals and complements our OOH strategy in the interests of the customer,” emphasizes Jascha Waffender.

Jonathan Grothaus, CEO & Founder of myflexbox, says: “GLS is a strong and forward-looking partner for us, with whom we are continuously expanding our out-of-home network in Germany and Austria. The collaboration enables us to jointly create future-proof solutions for modern and digital parcel delivery. For good reason, GLS was the first parcel service with which we entered the German market in 2022. The fact that we have now reached 500 locations in Germany shows how successful our joint path is – and we still have a lot to do.”

The locations of the myflexbox parcel stations have been strategically chosen: The network is growing rapidly in cities in particular – with more than 130 locations in Berlin alone. But rural regions also benefit from the infrastructure, as stations can also be successfully operated in communities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. Close cooperation with local retailers as well as cities and municipalities is important here. GLS and myflexbox are continuing their mission to revolutionize parcel delivery by steadily opening additional locations.
